Exciting Updates on Our Workshop Tools
Hey everyone! We have some fantastic news to share about the latest donations to our community workshop and shed. Thanks to the incredible support from our community, we have been able to acquire some new and much-needed equipment and materials.
Welcoming Our New Wood Lathe
One of the most exciting additions is a brand-new wood lathe. This is in addition to the fantastic lathe donated by Jan Hurren in memory of her husband Ken. Together these two pieces of equipment will open up an array of possibilities for woodworking projects, from intricate designs to functional items. Whether you are a seasoned woodworker or just starting, this lathe will be a valuable tool for all.
The new lathe means we can now create more complex and high-quality items right here in our workshop. We cannot wait to see the amazing projects that will come out of this!
Our first wood turning course is also being run by shed volunteer Tony - a big thanks to Tony as these machines need proper set up and members need to do the training course before it is safe to use them.
Scaffolding Boards for Veg Beds
In addition to the wood lathe, we also received a generous donation of scaffolding boards in Feb 2024 from roofing company TC Garrett. These boards are perfect for creating sturdy and long-lasting vegetable beds. With more robust veg beds, we can expand our community garden and grow even more fresh produce for everyone to enjoy.
Our gardening volunteers have already set out new veg bed layouts please do drop by and see how they have grown! The use of scaffolding boards will ensure that our beds are durable and well-constructed, making our gardening efforts more successful. A huge thank you to Drew Whiteley and the team at TC Garrett for this donation.
Lottery funding for equipment and building
Lottery funding has enabled us to progress work on the building project including proper air vents, tools for woodworking and crafting, garden equipment and out-buildings. This will go a long way to getting our project of shed set up across the finish line.
More to Come!
We are incredibly grateful for the donations and support from our community. These additions to our workshop and garden will not only enhance our current projects but also inspire new ones. We look forward to seeing what we can create together with these new tools and materials.
If you would like to contribute or get involved, feel free to reach out. Our community shed is always open to new ideas and helping hands. Thank you again to everyone who has supported us!
