Learn the art of rag rug making
Discover the art of rag rug with textile artist Liz Shackleton. Embrace the joy of crafting with recycled materials and weave connections with like-minded individuals in an environment that fosters creativity and camaraderie.
This one day workshop will run
from 10 am - 4 pm on Saturday 23 March 2024
Expert Guidance: Learn from an experienced and talented instructor who is passionate about textiles and rug making. Liz will guide you on all aspects of rug making, from selecting the perfect recycled fabrics to mastering rug-making techniques, she will guide you every step of the way. You will also learn through interacting with others in the workshop as we learn and explore together with Liz there to give us expert time saving tips and techniques.
Taking inspiration from Bauhaus design we will map out some simple geometric patterns to get you started on your first project.
Recycled Magic: Dive into the world of eco-friendly making as we transform discarded fabrics into vibrant, functional masterpieces. Each rug tells a unique story, bringing new life to materials that would otherwise be forgotten.
Community Spirit: Join our inclusive and friendly workshop atmosphere, where you will be welcomed and can learn at your own level of tuition from more experienced designers to absolute beginners. Experience the thrill of making something beautiful from the ordinary.
Environmental Impact: Feel good about your making journey! By utilizing recycled materials, you contribute to a greener planet while creating stunning rugs that reflect your personal style.
This is a fundraising workshop, providing expert tuition and the funds raised will go to supporting the vital work that the Fressingfield Shed is doing in the community. For shed members who are interested in the art of rag rug making, we will be running drop-in DIY rug sessions in the new year, please stay in touch for details and make sure to fill out your membership forms to get involved.

Materials will be provided - you can use our tools or purchase tools on the day if you don't have your own. A full tool list will be provided upon registration
This workshop is a fundraising activity for the Fressingfield Shed and all money raised will go toward supporting the shed.
